Authority and Knowledge– The psychological myth

1- Some days before, my friend has some interesting experience. My office car parking time is around 8:00 PM. After 8:00, everybody must take out cars from parking area and park somewhere else. Just a few days back, my friend forgot to take out his car till 8:00 and late for half an hour. The car parking manager, exercising his authority, first treated him badly and then did not permit him to park car in the parking area in future. Though, many of us facing the same situation so often.

2- Just another instance which happened also few days back, for some advisory work, i called to someone to take guidance on some matter. I approached the person with some reference. But when I called him, he talked extremely in rude manner and did not guide me.

3- Just a few days back, I went to my bank for the payment of my credit card. When I reached there, there was a lunch hour which was expected to be end within 15 minutes. I was in a hurry because I have some work in my office. I found, just 5 minutes before the completion of lunch hour, the relevant person came and sit on the seat. I went there and ask him to collect my payment. He denied with the remark that there were still 2 to 3 minutes left. Anyway, I supposed to wait but amazingly after 5 minutes, he left his seat and sit in the other room for 5 minutes. A huge surprise for me. I was sitting in one of the largest private bank in Pakistan and saw their customer care.

When I just think about the above situations, I felt it is not individual fault but we all are collectively responsible for this. Non cooperative behavior and redundancy to facilitate others is the social norm of our society. These sorts of examples are our daily part of our life. Those who have authorities, those who have knowledge, ignoring their responsibilities, misuse the authority and think the person standing before them as mediocre.

I feel this behavior as our psychological problem. We, as a nation are far behind where we ought to be. This is in reality due to the fact that most of us who has authority misapplied it and those have knowledge are reluctant to guide the other person. I talked to many persons daily for every category. I felt, most of us are proud irrespective of the extent of authority and knowledge we have.

The other important perspective is our weakness of belief on our Religion. Just a simple test. If, I and you are involve in the same practice as mentioned in the above cases, then ask these question to yourself:

a) Just in case of case 1, what happen if Allah treats us in same manner as mention in case 1. Is anyone able to cope up in this world? If Allah will punish us for our each and every mistake, can we survive?????????????

Our action: Very simple, whenever we are facing a problem to forgive others and we are confused, just simply remember Allah who is the most ‘Rehman’ and think how he treats us. Who forgive our biggest sins even we ask for forgiveness in our heart.

b) Secondly, when we come into this world, we don’t have the knowledge even to know how to eat and how to stand. It is only Allah who blessed us to learn. Knowledge we gain with the passage of the time is not our asset but our liability that we have to pay off by transferring it to others.

Lastly

Be polite and Co operative with everyone…………..
